Dear Hawaii County Council
The Hawaii Community College Student Council conducted a "Raise the age to purchase tobacco
products" survey. That survey was conducted from October 9th 2013 to October 18th, 2013. The data
that has been collected from this survey has been collaborated and in doing so we have come to the
conclusion that the Hawaii Community College Student Council has become grid lock due to such
close numbers. Due to such a short time frame, the Hawaii Community College Student Council was
not able to do ample research. Provided is the data that follows.
• Total number of surveys taken: 168
• Total number of participants check yes to "Should the legal smoking age be raised from 18 to
21 years of age?" 67= 40%
• Total number of participants check no to "Should the legal smoking age be raised from 18 to
21 years of age?" 72= 42%
• Total numbers of participants check undecided to "Should the legal smoking age be raised
from 18 to 21 years of age?" 67= 40%
Attached you will find the data that has been collected and supporting documents. Please look these
over and let the Hawaii Community College Student Council know if there are any amendments and
anything things else we can help with.
Best,
Student Activities Secret Shannen Hatayama
