Your Committee on Public Works to which was referred
`Communication 522.1 reports as follows :
Communication 522.1 is a letter from Jeffrey and Sally Mermel dated
May 28 , 1986 in which they are applying for a one year permit for
cafe table service on the sidewalk directly abutting their business ,
Bear 's Coffee at 106 Keawe Street, Hilo, Hawaii .
The proposed sidewalk use includes the placement of 4-24" diameter ,
30" high cafe tables and 8 stools on the subject property. The
nature of the business for which the application is being sought
includes the sale of sandwiches , lite meals , and non-alcoholic
beverages and coffee drinks . use is being sought for one year
during the hours of 6: 30a .m. thru 5: 30 p.m. daily.
Your Committee supports the Mermel 's application for a one year
permit for cafe table service on the sidewalk abutting Bear 's Coffee
at 106 Keawe Street in downtown Hilo. Your Committee, therefore,
recommends Council 's approval of the said applicant 's compliance
with the insurance requirements for sidewalks .
