Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred
Resolution 183-86 , reports as follows :
The purpose of Resolution 183-86 is to recognize and honor
Mr . Ikuo Hisaoka by renaming the Kamehameha Park Gymnasium in
North Kohala to the Ikuo "Iku" Hisaoka Gymnasium.
Mr . Ikuo Hisaoka served as an elected official for Hawaii County for
18 years both as a member of its Board of Supervisor and the Hawaii
County Council . During his tenure , he held numerous leadership
positions including that of Council Chairman during 1968-1970 . His
numerous contributions in providing for a better county are reflected
in the many public facilities, programs and services we enjoy today.
Your Committee on Public Works is in concurrence with the purpose and
intent of Resolution 183-86 and recommends its a•option by the County
Council .
