Your Committee on Public Works , to which was referred
'Communication 508 , reports as follows:
The purpose of Communication 508 is to submit for Council
confirmation, the appointment of Mr . Stanley C. Carvalho to the
Transportation Commission .
Pursuant to Section 18-3, Hawaii County Code 1983 , there shall be a
County Transportation Commission composed of nine commissioners , one
for each Council district and three at large, with alternating two
year terms . Commissioners shall be appointed by the Mayor with
approval of the Council .
Mr . Carvalho is an independent from Puna . He is being appointed as
the Commissioner from the Puna district and , upon confirmation , will
serve until December 31 , 1987 . Mr . Carvalho is filling a vacancy
created by the expired term of Mr . Tito Nicholas .
Your Committtee on Public Works concurs with the appointment of
Mr . Stanley C. Carvalho and recommends his co ' rmation by
County Council as a commissioner to the Transpo tation Commission .
