Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred
'Communication 507 , and its attached Bill 163 , reports as follows :
Communication 507 is a transmittal letter submitting for Council
consideration Bill 163 , relating to Motor Vehicle Inspections . The
purpose of Bill 163 is to resolve an existing contradiction in the
Hawaii County Code concerning the amount of fee to be paid for
vehicle safety inspections . Presently, Section 24-24(b ) specifies a
fee of $4. 25 and Section 24-29 specifies a fee of $2 .00 .
Bill 163 amends Chapter 24 , Article 5 , Sections 24-24 and 24-29 as
follows:
1 . Section 24-24 is amended to reflect that the promulgation
authority for rules and regulations on vehicle inspections
is the State Director of Transportation and not the Highway
Safety Coordinator .
2. The provisions of Section 24-29 relating to motor vehicle
safety inspections with a specified fee of $2 .00 are
repealed .
3 . New provision reflecting safety inspection , certification ,
inspection procedures , and inspection reports are proposed
for adoption as Section 24-29 .
