Your Committee on Public Works , to which was referred
/Communication 336 and Bill 95 relating to the Building Code , reports
as follows:
Bill 95 proposes three amendments to the County Building Code. The
first , as reflected in Section 1 of Bill 95 , is of a housekeeping
nature . It deletes the repetitive material as found in Section 301
of the Uniform Building Code , as amended. The purpose of the second
amendment, as reflected in Section 2 of Bill 95 , is to provide for a
penalty fee when construction is commenced prior to obtaining a
building permit. Finally, the purpose of the third amendment, as
reflected in Section 3 of Bill 95 , is to simplify the inspection
requirements with respect to reinforcing steel as this falls within
the responsibility of the private engineer .
Your Committee on Public Works concurs with the purpose of Bill 95
and recommends its passage on first reading bAthe County Council .
