Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred Bill 93
amending Chapter 24 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 relating to
Traffic Regulations , reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill 93 is to repeal provisions of the County Code
which permit U-Turns on Mamalahoa Highway in the vicinity of the
Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu, Kona . Your committee acknowledges the
comments and recommendations of the Department of Public Works
(Comm. 306 ) which advises that the presence of a crosswalk and side
road to the University Experimental Farm makes this area unsuitable
for U-Turn movements .
Your Committee on Public Works is in agreement with the purpose of
Bill 93 and recommends its passage on first eading by the County
Council .
