Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred Bill 75
entitled "An Ordinance Amending Chapter 24 Of The Hawaii County Code
1983 Relating To Amendment Of Traffic Code" and Communication 243 ,
reports as follows :
The purpose of Bill 75 is to convert existing 2-hour time limit
parking meter spaces along the fringe areas of downtown Hilo to
8-hour metered spaces . Longer term parking is being proposed for
portions of Haili Street , Kinoole Street , Wailuku Drive , and
Ponahawai Street .
Your Committee acknowledges that this request to convert parking
meter spaces originated with the Downtown Improvement Association and
finds that the Police, Hawaii Redevelopment Agency and Department of
Public Works have been advised of these proposed changes .
Your Committee is in agreement with the purpose of this ordinance and
recommends its adoption by the County Council .
