Your Committee on Public Works to which was referred Communication
/No . 810 reports as follows:
Communication No . 810 is a letter from Mayor Akana which submits for
the Council, information on the guidelines for a Solid Waste Citizens
Advisory Committee .
The Committee ' s purpose is to provide advice and recommendations to
the County to promote a better understanding of the solid waste
management system and the public ' s needs . The Committee will consist
of representatives from the business community, the Department of
Public Works, an environmental ground, a private refuse hauling
company, the districts of Hilo, Puna, Kohala and Kona .
The Mayor has invited the Council to designate a representative to
serve on this advisory committee .
The Committee on Public Works has discussed the Mayor ' s invitation to
designate a member to this advisory committee and therefore,
designates the Chairman of the Public Works Committee to serve as the
Council ' s representative, and the Vice Chairman to serve as the
alternate .
