No. 231-13 PLACE: Council Chambers Kona, Hawai`i TIME: 1:35 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 231-13, reports as follows: Resolution No. 231-13, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 153, by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 529, dated November 14, 2013, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the U.S. Department of the Attorney General, pursuant to Hawai`i Revised Statutes 46-7, for the Police Detectives Training grant to the Hawai`i County Police Department. The $65,200 grant from the State of Hawai`i Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division, would be used to train investigative personnel with the goal of increasing the prosecution success rate for murder and other serious violent crimes in the Hawai`i County. There was no discussion on this measure. Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers.
