Re: Acceptance of Donation .
In accordance with(1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, which
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and with
(2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (b), of the Hawai`i County Code, which states that a gift
or donation of money, securities, or personal property not covered by the capitalization
procedures (of the Department of Finance) shall be submitted to the Council by letter for its
approval, we request the Council's approval of the following donation:
Assorted Christmas decorations which includes six (6) large wreaths, two (2) 72" trees,
garlands, and ornaments,with a combined value of$500 donated by Tommy Bahamas.
This equipment will provide Christmas decorations to the Hawaii Fire Department's West
Hawaii Fire Stations during the Holiday Season.

To accept donation of assorted Christmas decorations which includes, (6) large wreaths, (2) 72"trees,
garlands, and ornaments. Items are valued at $500.00.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Tommy Bahamas wanted to donate their Christmas decorations to our West Hawaii Fire Stations to be used
during the Holiday Season.

RE: Communication No. 5 7 6 : A Communication Authorizing the Acceptance of Assorted
Christmas Decorations With a Combined Value of$500 Donated to the Hawai`i County
Fire Department from Tommy Bahamas.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
