Re: Capital Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance adding the Mohouli Senior Housing Traffic Signal project for
$500,000, to Ordinance 13-66, the Capital Budget. Mohouli Street is classified as a major collector
roadway with a posted speed limit of forty-five miles per hour. Due to the planned usage of the
subject access point, this intersection will require the installation of a traffic signal. This amount
represents a proportionate share of the cost of the signal design and construction, to be paid by
Mohouli Senior Phase 1, LLLP.

A. REQUEST:
To accept private funding and an ordinance amending Ordinance 13-66, the Capital Budget to appropriate
$500,000.00 for the Mohouli Senior Phase 1 LLLP for an proportionate share of the cost of the traffic signal
design and construction near Mohouli Senior Housing, S. Hilo.
Mohouli Senior Housing Traffic Signal - Private $500,000.00
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge $500,000.00 for a proportionate share of the
cost of the traffic signal design and construction near Mohouli Senior Housing, S. Hilo.
This check is being received from:

Dear Keith,
Nlohouli Street is classified as a major collector roadway with a posted speed limit of lot t∎-lire
(45) miles pci hour Due to the planned usage of the subject access point, this intersection will
require the installation of a traffic signal.
A proportionac share of the cost of the traffic signal design and construction will need to be made
payable to the County of Hawaii, Department of Public Works This transaction will need to be
made prior to our signing off on the occupancy permit for the Mohouli Senior Phase 1 project Based
on the expected traffic that will be generated by the Mohouli Senior Phase l project and the adjacent
future Fire Administration Support Complex,your proportionate share for the traffic signal is
$500.000
