RESOLUTION NO. 259 14
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION
OF TWO (2) AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS FOR USE
BY THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Heart Foundation is donating two (2) Automated
External Defibrillators (AEDs), valued at $2,708 to the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will be utilized by the Hawaii Fire Department's
Volunteer Division to support their mission to increase the survival rate from
community cardiac arrest within the Island of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Hawaii Heart Foundation, P.O. Box 542, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
96734, acknowledging this generous donation.
