Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred
Communication No. 549, reports as follows:
Communication No. 549, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated November 22, 2013,
nominates Mr. K. Angel Pilago to the Hawai`i County Veterans Advisory Committee.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Charmaine Shigemura introduced Mr. Pilago who is a former
two-term Hawai`i County council member and a lifelong resident of Hawai`i.
Mr. Pilago is a member of the Polynesian Voyaging Society, the Historic Hawai`i Foundation,
the Kaloko-Honokohau Advisory Committee and the Meet & Eat Feed the Hungry Program. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2018.
Mr. David Carlson representing the American Legion and the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery
Association, testified in support of Mr. Pilago's nomination.
Mr. Pilago expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to help protect the veterans' entitlements.
Committee members also thanked Mr. Pilago for his willingness to serve on the Commission.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Communication 549, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. K.
Angel Pilago to the Hawai`i County Veterans Advisory Committee.
