Subject: KINGS TRAIL
I recently walked along the shoreline that spanned from Kailapa west to Kohala and saw some major
improvements to homes, landscape and local terrain. What I do not understand is why this little piece of
public land needs to be assigned as private? Some of the homes are very close to the coastline which
would lead me to believe those individuals understood the public would be passing or be seen from their
property. And this historical significance is a part of what drives our heritage as well as tourism. Do we
show the rest of the world that we give up what little we have to make a few individuals happy?
Hawaii's beaches have ALWAYS been open to the public and to make them private and exclude
ANYONE, local or tourist, is discriminatory. Plain and simple - the benefits of the Many OUTWEIGHT
the needs of the Few....
