COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Legislature has adopted 53 amendments
to the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act ; and
WHEREAS, Congressional consent is required for major
state-approved amendments to the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act ; and
WHEREAS , the 53 amendments are incorporated in House Joint
Resolution 17, which are supported by Hawaii ' s State Department of
Hawaiian Home Lands, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) and other
Hawaiian organizations as well as the U. S. Department of the
Interior.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it urges the Senate to support House Joint Resolution 17.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit copies of this resolution to Senator Daniel K. Inouye,
Senator Spark M. Matsunaga and Congressman Daniel K . Akaka .

Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution
No . 208-86 , regarding amendments to the Hawaiian Homes Commission
Act, reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No . 208-86 is to urge the U.S . Senate to
support House Joint Resolution 17 , which incorporates 53 proposed
amendments to the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act .
The resolution was heard by your Committee on September 8 , 1986 , and
deferred at the request of Office of Hawaiian Affairs board member ,
Moanikeala Akaka . She requested that action on the resolution be
deferred to allow Congress to complete hearings on the 53 amendments .
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the suggestion of
Committee Chairman Takashi Domingo and recommends that the file on
Resolution 208-86 be closed .
