RE BILL NO 113
I am wnting to urge you to vote NO on Bill # 113 This bill is flawed and without substantial evidences
that GMO is bad for our islands agriculture
Without further study of all the concerns, it would be unfair to the farmers who depend on their survival
of their businesses Not to mention the npple effect it will have on our islands economy
It is my understanding, while there are so many concerns regarding safety of GMO products, it is being
currently regulated by the USDA, EPA and FDA, which all have determined them to be safe or safer
then commercial or organic crops It is important to note that these genetically engineered crops use less
pesticides then conventional crops
I strongly believe if this bill should pass and our Big Island Farmers and Ranchers are forced to stop,
it would be detrimental to the industry and our whole island economy will suffer Please do more studies
and have supporting evidences before passing a bill that is merely based on opinions
