Hilo HI 96720 I '�I r -• Phone 80&969.9341 QQIQ Fax 80&934-0110 • °r -N•910i.1 November 4, 2013 Hawaii County Council RE BILL NO 113 I am wnting to urge you to vote NO on Bill # 113 This bill is flawed and without substantial evidences that GMO is bad for our islands agriculture Without further study of all the concerns, it would be unfair to the farmers who depend on their survival of their businesses Not to mention the npple effect it will have on our islands economy It is my understanding, while there are so many concerns regarding safety of GMO products, it is being currently regulated by the USDA, EPA and FDA, which all have determined them to be safe or safer then commercial or organic crops It is important to note that these genetically engineered crops use less pesticides then conventional crops I strongly believe if this bill should pass and our Big Island Farmers and Ranchers are forced to stop, it would be detrimental to the industry and our whole island economy will suffer Please do more studies and have supporting evidences before passing a bill that is merely based on opinions Best regards, c&ALa,vwiv- Conen wt Nakamura President
