Aloha County Council Members,
I know that you and the Council are due to vote on the GMO Bill that has divided
our island.
It is unfortunate that this bill was thrown together by Ms. Wille without proper
thought and research
and without the sensibility to give it the time it deserves to talk to major
stakeholders in the business.
It is your responsibility as a Council Member to serve all of your constituents, not
just the ones that
don't want GMO, and not just the ones that want the option to have the science as
a tool.
Please consider this carefully and vote to take the time to reconsider the effects of
all of our people.
Vote against this Bill, talk to more farmers, ranchers, dairy owners, and the
community.
Not just the ones that wear green and speak loudly, but the ones who have
respect and are humble,
the ones that don't have to stand up and shout, but who want to continue to make
a living is their
home state, and who want to feed all of us, for years to come. You cannot deny
that most of the
opponents are not even from here.
Please consider this further; I know you must be conflicted and confused and
afraid to make the wrong
decision. Then don't, it's too important. Vote to give it more time, to learn more.
When you are talking
about growing things, you should talk to the people that grow those things, not
the people who don't,
not the people who are against everything as a general rule, and who combat
things as a way of life.
I humbly and sincerely ask you to consider voting against the passing of this bill,
so that the 393..35)
