Family farms, small businesses, have been and still are the driving force in any local economy and for this council to dictate to them what they can or cannot produce is cess-pool level mentality...every federal agency which is charged with the responsibility of insuring safety in food products has given its' OK to GMO products and for this council to ignore these accredited evaluations is a childless mentality. My grandchildren have survived on GMO products and are still eating them without any repercussions in Oklahoma as we meet, ZERO ILL-HEALTH attributed to GMO products...millions have survived very successfully eating GMO products for at least 40 years in the midwest, where this council could have gone to receive (via telephone or video) testimony from agriculture agencies if it had had the moxie, to contact for pros and cons of GMOs...but alas, the bill sponsors chose to ignore people who have lived the GMO experience and have joined the ranks of the hystericals, who have ZERO proof that GMOs are harmful or organic food has any better nutritonal values....not even the organic food store owners, who have reaped untold profits promotic "organic" food, can provide any proof that the products they sell, which cost more, have any greater nutritional value than GMO products....VOG, volcano fall-out, ocean viruses, air-borne tropical viruses will cause more ill-health EVER than GMO products in Hawaii and that can be proven....hot ponds are especially suspect.... I am 71 years old and have lived the GMO experience and my families, relatives, and millions of citizens on the mainland have lived the GMO experience with ZERO repercussions health-wise. My health is as good or better than anyone of the hystericals and will be for the next 50 years.... DNA is the determinig factor in good health, with excercise, and no organic food in the world, by itself, can guaranteed good health longetivity.... smokers, drinkers, those taking legal / illegal meds, pacalolo users, excessive sugar usage, drunk drivers, auto accidents, etc. will cause more ill-health ever than GMOs. Dote NUV T t L013 11/13/2013 Page 2 of 2 eliminate choice is both unpatriotic and a step backward /or forward to a 3rd world designation as technology will be stopped by passage of this bill.. The big island could be /should be the bread basket for the Pacific Basin and bill 113 will severly limit that capability and the economy it would help. Y'all and your hystericals might want a 3rd world persona and to be viewed as a 3rd world designation but don't drag the rest of us down to your level, you don't have that right. Move way out into the jungle where you can live in an organic commune, that is your choice but it is not my choice....GMOs have been on the island for 17 years with ZERO health repercussions...and for those who claim to have suffered by eating GMOs, they should check their family history and DNA cos GMOs have not been proven to cause any ill-health. If you think that you are so correct and the rest of us are that incorrect then put the issue on the 2014 ballot for the whole county to vote, not 7 biased polticians who have never had the experience of farming, the education of farming, and very little experience in business. 11/13/2013
