Subject: support Bill 113
Aloha Hawaii County Council Members,
I am in strong support of Bill 113 for the prohibition of GM crops on the County of Hawaii. As a
mother and wife of a farmer, I am extremely concerned about the safety of our health and environment.
More and more studies are revealing that GMOs and their related pesticides are linked to the rising
chronic diseases in children including cancer, autism and diabetes. I have already sent you many links
on published studies on how GMOs adversely affect our environment. Below, I am listing several that
reveal potential harm to humans. Please do not delay the process any longer. The current method of
GMO technology needs further testing and until there is independent studies showing their safety, it is
only wise to prohibit GMO crops. Please do not continue to allow the poisoning of our keiki and
ecosystem.
I strongly urge you to support this bill with the exclusion of the emergency GMO provision and
permitting of the existing GMO corn.
