Please support the anti-GMO bill v'«' i.31") t 1 131 DMZ _'h)

The anti-GMO bill is very important to prevent the need for testing every plant that
grows on a farm. we have an all-organic farm so it is not allowed to have any GMO
growing on it. To grow papayas we have to test each tree (at a cost of $3 each at
CTAHR, plus our time and effort to label and take tissue from each tree) so we can
cut down those that turn out to be GMO.
without this anti-GMo bill , more and more kinds of crops will require this same
treatment as time goes on. The only crops that I know have this problem here now
are papaya and corn. I hope we won't have to do this with taro, banana, and others.
without GMO, if a crop fails due to some uncontrollable natural condition then
farmers could start using their time, energy, and land to transition to other crops.
with unlimited GMO then eventually every kind of crop will have GMO versions and
either there will be no more organic farms or else every plant that grows on an
organic farm will have to be tested and probably removed.
