The testimony against it by "scientists" must be taken in context. At land grant universities, such as UH, agricultural research is mostly funded by agribusiness and biotech corporations. I have served on graduate student committees and scrutinized their research at another land grant university. They and their mentors are experts at splicing genes and creating herbicide resistance, but do no research at all on the presence and effects of poisonous chemicals that may infuse and remain in the cellular structure of the plants that survive an herbicide onslaught. They have even less idea about the effects on humans who eat these plants because their funders don't want to know. Please keep Hawaii Island residents free from being guinea pigs for Monsanto.
