RESOLUTION NO. 266 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND
FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR "TEEN DATING VIOLENCE PREVENTION PEER
EDUCATION CONFERENCES."
WHEREAS, the Committee on the Status of Women is coordinating "Teen Dating Violence
Prevention Peer Education Conferences"; and
WHEREAS, funds are needed for these conferences to increase awareness of the illegal and
harmful social effects of teen dating violence and to stop the practice among teens; and
WHEREAS, conferences previously held in East and West Hawai`i featuring conference
speaker Dr. Jill Murray resulted in overwhelming responses, demonstrating a further need for
educational conferences throughout Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS, Jill Murray is a licensed marriage and family therapist, author of three books on
domestic violence, and a nationally recognized expert on the subject of teen dating abuse; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the
Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for "Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education
Conferences"; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this resolution
to the Prosecuting Attorney and the Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
