The need for a Community Park in Hawaiian Paradise Park has been determined for decades and has been voiced by an overwhelming majority of residents on many occasions. The reasons for need of a Park in the subdivision are to provide a safe environment for residents and especially children to exercise without exposing themselves to the busy narrow roadways. Residents need a place close to their homes to recreate without having to drive many miles thereby alleviating some of the congested traffic on Highway 130, the only outlet from Paradise Park. The cost of fuel and transportation to drive anywhere is increasing annually and driving to a recreational area becomes less of a priority for many residents. Childhood obesity is a major health concern in Hawaii and a park where kids can play safely would be a means to help parents guide them to get the exercise they need. Please approve Bill 156 Draft 2.
