Dear Council Members,
Our names are Kimo and Malila Devincent, residents and registered voters in
Keauu. Please accept this written testimony in support of Bill 156 draft 2 for the
bonds needed to have a park built in Hawaiian Paradise Park.
As the second largest subdivision in America, with 8,014 mostly 1 acre lots, I
believe Hawaiian Paradise Park (HPP) is in need of an area the residents of HPP
can go to for recreation close to their homes. HPP has private roads with no
sidewalks or safe place to walk or ride bikes. A park would allow the residents an
area to go to get the exercise needed to maintain good health. The Keiki also
need a safe place to go for play and exercise. With obesity rising, it is necessary
to provide safe areas for the public to go for exercise.
There is no safe place to walk a dog in HPP. A park with a dog walking area would
solve that problem for the residents. Unleashed dogs in HPP is another problem
that needs to be addressed.
HPP was promised a park years ago but the funding for their park was given to
another subdivision. It is time to provide a park for HPP. Please add your support
to Bill 156, draft 2 and pass this bill. Thank you for your consideration and hard
work for the people of Hawaii.
