RESOLUTION NO. 2S0 14
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE THE DONATION
OF SURPLUS HYDRATED LIME FROM THE U.S. ARMY,
ENGINEER RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER
CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING RESEARCH LABORATORY TO
THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
WHEREAS, the U.S. Army, Engineer Research and Development Center
Construction Engineering Research Laboratory is donating fifty (50) tons of
hydrated lime, with an estimated value of $28,000 to the Department of
Environmental Management's Wastewater Division; and
WHEREAS, this material is used to help control the pH level of wastewater
at the Kula'imano and Papa'ikou wastewater treatment plants; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter
provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real
estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawai'i County Code
states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which
fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be
accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Environmental Management recommends
the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of
the County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
