I have been shopping and then became a member of our local coop since the 70s and generally I have a live and let live attitude. There are things however, that we try to do as a society such as conserving and not using everything up. Leaving something for our children and theirs. We do not truly earn that vacation in Vegas, if what we do to earn it hurts or displaces others, if what we do for it is not pono. Letting in more and more GMOs, is like letting in more and more exotic diseases. We cannot undo it, we cannot remove its effect on the environment completely if we decide it was wrong. Large monocropping practices in itself is endangering our ecosystem with sterile, dustbowl creations. The large chemical biotech companies that produce GMOs would not be satisfied with smaller diversified farming practices. Nor can many of their "products" tolerate live soil. Their "products" usually require sterilizing large areas of land to be profitable. If we love good food like honey and fruit that needs bees for pollination, please consider at least this one small aspect(please watch this video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY7iATJVCso Mahalo.
