The measure defines and inserts "Certified organic operations"into Chapter 19, article 1, section 19-2 of the Hawaii County Code as one of the activities under commercial agriculture use dedication. This measure would provide certified organic operations a lower property tax designation as is now given to intensive agriculture, orchards, feed crops and fast rotation forestry, and pasture and slow rotation forestry. We believe this would be an important step in supporting local agriculture by helping organic farmers and food producers in the county sustain the economic viability of their operations. Please vote yes on Bill 185. Thank you for this opportunity to testify. Sincerely, c29.7 litze-,et4e enator Russell ,. Rudennan Senator Josh Green, MD Hawaii State Senate, District 2 Hawaii.
