Hawaii l hanks Rene, The ,am< edine=nts proposed by Ms. Wille are in the form of a correspondence, not an amended version of the bill I air=eta with you about that proposed amendment as well as it is onerous to get a simple majority of peopir, vvitrnn 500 feet of the tree to join in a complaint, especially if you're dealing with absentee landowners. E lick From: rene siracusa [mailto:renesiracusa©hotmail.com] Sent: Sunday, August 18, 2013 9:46 AM To: HSCA BOD; County Council Cc: Greggor Ilagan; Zendo Kern Subject: RE: Testimony for Bill 64 Environmental Committee Hearing Tuesday, Aug. 20th at 1:00PM in W. Hawaii Thank you for sharing this testimony; Malama 0 Puna agrees with the objections raised and also supports this measure with a concern not mentioned herein: that a majority of residents in the area of the offending tree file the complaint. This is an unacceptable burden. If the tree is endangering only one neighbor, for example, other neighbors may be unwilling to sign on for fear of retaliation or, at the least, creating bad feelings. So the tree will stay until it falls and does its damage. That is not acceptable. By the way, I was unable to locate the amended version of the bill on the County website - only the original version. So if my concern has already been dealt with, kala mai. mahalo, Rene Siracusa From: HSCA BOD @hawaii.rr.com To: counciltestimony @co.hawaii.hi.us CC: gilagan @co.hawaii.hi.us; zkern @co.hawaii.hi.us Subject: Testimony for Bill 64 Environmental Committee Hearing Tuesday, Aug. 20th at 1:00PM in W.
