Dear Finance Committee Chair Poindexter and Committee Members:
Re: Consideration and Confirmation of Douglass S. Adams as a member of the Board of Ethics
Thank you for the opportunity to express my views on the above-referenced applicant. I support the
appointment of Douglass Adams as a member of the County of Hawaii Board of Ethics.
While Mr. Adams has recently moved to the County of Hawaii since his retirement from the Military, he
has a long association with and understanding of the island, having served on the Board of Directors of Big
Island company since the early 1990's. Furthermore, since relocating here, he has been involved in a
number of location organizations including the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island and the Rotary Club
of South Hilo.
His background as an Army officer and lawyer provide and incredible background and experience for this
appointment. More important however, is his willingness to get involved in the community in a meaningful
way. He has the time, expertise and interest to undertake this appointment.
I believe Doug will be fair and reasonable in balancing the many competing interests with respect to issues
facing the Board of Ethics. With his background, commitment and character, I cannot think of more
qualified candidate for this appointment.
The County will be well served by his confirmation.
