Members of the County Council I would like to explain how funds designated by
Resolution 239-13 will be spent to establish the POW/MIA Memorial Garden at
the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.
The cost of the plaque, benches and installation will be $25,000.
1. As of this date contributions from individuals total -- $6,444.
Funds needed $18,556.
Funds designated by Res. 239-13 $15,000.
Annual Fund request sent to members & friends for the remainder of the cost
to purchase Dry Land Forest Plants that will provide shade for the Memorial
Garden.
This resolution will enable the Cemetery to develop the POW/MIA Memorial
Garden.
Site of the proposed POW/MIA Memorial Garden
Marble wall visible on the right will be used to place the Plaque.
Trees on the hill behind the proposed site are restored dry land forest trees as will be those that
will be planted in the Garden.
