Council Members, I am Kimo DeVincent and I support passage of Bill 113 to ban
GMOs from Hawaii Island.
My reasons for supporting this bill comes from my "love" of Hawaii and its people.
"Love" to me is when you put what you love "first" before yourself. Therefore,
put Hawaii Island before my personal gain because I love the land. Therefore, I put
Hawaii's people before my personal profit, because I "Love" Hawaii's people and
our culture.
So let's look at the bio-tech industry. What is it that drives them? Is it Love of the
land? No....we look at Kauai's pollution, as well as Oahu and Molokai. Their lands
are grossly saturated with poisons. Their waters are toxic, their reefs are dying.
Does that sound like a corporation putting the land before its personal profits?
Certainly, NO love of Hawaii from them.
Now let's look at Hawaii's people. Does the health problems from GMO pesticide
use show that the bio-tech corporations think of the people before themselves?
NO there's no "love" for the people who work, raise their children, or look to the
future grandchildren. So it's plain to see, the bio-tech corporations , do NOT put
others first, ahead of their profits. Council members, The line is clear. If YOU
Love" Hawaii and its people, prove it by supporting Bill 113
