I am a resident of Papa'aloa and I grow as much food for my family and others as possible. The current unregulated state of GMO crops limits my freedom and ability to grow my food. The pollen from GMO plants can travel long distances and mix with other plants. Most of these crops have terminator genes which halt the plants' seeds reproductive abilities. They also may have effects we don't know of yet given their novelty and lack of scientific trialling. I am not anti-GMO from a scientific standpoint but I do believe that until more study can be done and proper regulation put in place that we as Hawaii' s food producers would be better off without them. Lets follow the lead of our elder kin in Europe and ban GMO' s on this sacred aina. Mahalo, Warren Shelley-Rose Po box 74, Laupahoehoe (808) 430-0337 CD }r-) CD CO QJ LO -O Comm. No. 393. ASS Ref.
