RE: Bill 186: Agenda Item on Committee on Finance Order of Business on February 4,2013
Dear Members of the Finance Committee,
I am writing to express my full support for Bill 186 which would amend Ordinance No. 13-66 by
adding the public works project: Honoka'a Elementary School Parking Lot and Student drop-
Off/Pick-Up Facility. This project provides critical funding for the project management,
engineering, infrastructure improvement,planning and design, and construction a parking lot and
student drop off facility at Honoka'a Elementary School. This project would increase student
and pedestrian safety by moving the elementary school traffic away from Pakalana Street.
This project is adjacent to the Honoka'a County Park and Gym will also provide additional
parking spaces and access to these County P&R facilities. I have included matching funding for
this project in my district CIP request(HB 2578) and flagged this is a priority to the House
Finance Committee.
