The amendments are illustrated below in Ramseyer format(material to be deleted is bracketed and stricken through; material to be added in underlined; all bolded for emphasis only). Resolution No. 287-14 is amended by amending the third Whereas clause to read as follows: WHEREAS, the Pahoa Public and School Library has 32,000 books,with a total collection size of approximately 37,000 items 3000-beaks}; and A draft copy of Resolution No. 287-14, Draft 2 is attached with the proposed amendments incorporated therein. Date F'.13 1 9 2 February 19,2014 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, with a population of approximately 45,000, Puna is the fastest growing area in the State of Hawai`i with the third most utilized library in the County; and WHEREAS, the Pahoa Public and School Library has had no school librarian since 2009 and operates with four full-time staff, two temporary part-time workers, and one half-time janitor; and WHEREAS, the Pahoa Public and School Library has 32,000 books, with a total collection size of approximately 37,000 items; and WHEREAS, Puna has outgrown the "shared" library system at Pahoa Public and School Library; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 3067 will appropriate approximately $350,000 in general revenues for a Puna library feasibility study, which will include plans for design, site improvements, and construction; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it hereby urges the Hawai`i State Legislature to approve Senate Bill No. 3067, which will appropriate funds for a feasibility study for a proposed regional library in the Puna district. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Honorable Governor Neil Abercrombie; the Honorable Senate President Donna Mercado Kim; the Honorable House Speaker Joseph M. Souki; the Honorable Mayor William P. Kenoi; the Honorable Senator Russell E. Ruderman; and the Honorable Representative Faye P. Hanohano.
