RESOLUTION NO. 308 14
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER
FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A
MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT FOR PERSONAL COMPUTERS AND
LAPTOPS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLGY
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract,
lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later
fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the majority of personal computers (PCs) and laptops currently in use
by County employees, utilize a legacy operating system that will no longer be supported
by Microsoft Corporation after the second quarter of 2014; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into a multi-year agreement to
purchase PCs and Laptops in order to replace the equipment indicated above; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into multi-year agreement
for the purchase of desktop and laptop computers, to allow the
Department of Information Technology replace computers with
operating systems that will no longer be supported by the manufacturer
after the second quarter of 2014.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the
anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, Department of
Information Technology, and the Finance Department.
