RESOLUTION NO. 314 14
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION
OF SHOES AND SLIPPERS FOR USE BY THE HAWAII FIRE
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Olukai is donating shoes and slippers, valued at $18,300 to the
Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this gear will be utilized by the Hawaii Fire Department's Ocean
Safety Division as foot protection for lifeguards; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai`i County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Olukai, Attn: Matthew Murasko, 41 Awalau Road, Haiku,
Hawaii 96708 acknowledging this generous donation.
