Re: Resolution for multi-year agreement
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year, for a
new multi-year agreement for the Department of Information Technology, with Hawaiian
Telcom, for managed services to monitor and maintain firewalls and network security at the
West Hawai`i Civic Center and at Civil Defense located in Hilo. These services will provide
increased levels of security and expertise at the West Hawaii Civic Center and at Civil Defense,
located in Hilo.

A. REQUEST:
Request approval for a 3 year contract with Hawaiian Telecom to provide Managed Services for our Internet
firewalls located at West Hawaii Civic Center and Hilo Civil Defense.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The 3-year term will save the County money in monthly recurring maintenance fees. More importantly, the
managed services to monitor and maintain our firewalls and network security in a 24/7 capacity will provide
the County a level of network security and technical expertise we do not currently have. Service can be
acquired through a Uniform Request for Quotes from the State Procurement Office or SPO VL contract.
