RESOLUTION NO. 316 1 4
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL
YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A MULTI-YEAR
AGREEMENT MANAGED SERVICES FOR INTERNET FIREWALLS FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLGY
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other
obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one
fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, managed services to monitor and maintain firewalls and network security at the
West Hawaii Civic Center and at Civil Defense located in Hilo, will provide increased levels of
security and expertise; and
WHEREAS, a multi-year agreement will save the County money in monthly maintenance fees;
and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into a three (3) year agreement with Hawaiian
Telcom to provide managed services for the County's internet firewalls at the West Hawaii Civic
Center and at Civil Defense located in Hilo; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into multi-year agreement for managed
services as indicated above.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated
obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, Department of Information Technology, and
the Finance Department.
