Aloha Senators Baker, Taniguchi, Ige, and Kidani,
As Chairmen, and Vice Chairmen of the CPN and WAM committees you
currently have an extremely important opportunity to support the health and well
being of the people of Hawaii.
In support of your effort to make the highest and best decision possible I offer
for your review an article entitled "Genetic Fallacy: How Pesticide Companies
Silence Scientific Dissent".

This article, dated February 15, 2014, does an in depth review of how corrupted both the
scientific community AND the U.S. regulatory agencies have become. This results in an
environment where there is no reliable entity which the people in Hawaii can trust to insure that
the products being approved for public consumption or testing can be relied upon. This makes
it ever more critical that the people be supported by you in making their own informed choices
about GMO foods.
I very highly recommend that you read the article included at the above link as
well as the references to the attempts to denigrate the work of two highly qualified
scientific researchers. In order to make informed decisions regarding these very
important issues of GMOs and Labeling in Hawaii, this is required information.
If for some unfortunate reason you are unable to read the articles please, at a minimum,

Having reviewed this article and video I am sure you will recognize the Chemical
Companies blatant efforts to stifle any valid scientific research, as revealed in the
court documents referred to in the New Yorker article which reveals:
Hundreds of Syngenta's memos, notes, and e-mails have been unsealed following the settlement, in
2012, of two class-action suits brought by twenty-three Midwestern cities and towns that accused
Syngenta of"concealing atrazine's true dangerous nature"and contaminating their drinking water.

This revelation certainly strikes a familiar chord for those of us living here on Kauai where
Atrazine has been found in the children's drinking fountains at Waimea Canyon School! With
more and more clear evidence emerging daily it has become indefensible to deny the people
the right to know what it is in the food they are eating.
As you review this article you are in a position, as the people's elected officials, to clearly
recognize the types of influence and intimidation being inflicted upon the scientific community
by these chemical companies as clearly outlined, because you are being subjected to the very
same types of influence and intimidation. As you observe these Chemical companies
attempting to make puppets out of you in their efforts to strip the Counties' authorities to
govern their activities, you will note that, at the same time, they are also attempting to strip you
of your authority, as well as strip the Federal Government and the courts of their authorities.
In the coming days, as your committees make choices on this labeling bill, and while you
still have the authority to do so, you have an opportunity to support the health and well being of
your Ohana by merely supporting labeling which will give your people the ability to choose
intelligently what to feed their families. You are not being asked with Bill 2521 to rule on the
pros or cons of GMOs. You are merely being asked to assure that the people have a right to
know what they are eating and have an ability to make informed choices. Dozens of countries
around the world have already made this clear and simple decision.
It has become abundantly clear to We the People that the Chemical Companies are
exerting all of their money, influence and political power to control you, the scientific
community, and all of the regulatory agencies. It is time for you to take a stand for health, well
being and justice. You, and we, are living in a time when the Light is shining extremely brightly
on every choice being made. The choices that serve these multi National Corporations above
the well being of We the People stand out "like a sore thumb". That which has been done
behind close doors in the past is no longer secret.
Your choices are CLEAR. And you have before you a very clear opportunity to demonstrate
who it is that you choose to serve.
Please SUPPORT and PASS Labeling bill SB 2521.

the choices before you.

right.
