Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Jay Uyeda of Council District 8 to the County of Hawaii
Water Board. Mr. Uyeda is 42-year resident of Hawaii. He presently is the Director of
Development at the Hualalai Resort.
Mr. Uyeda is a member of the Hawai'i Planning Conference and the Hawai'i Society of
Professional Engineers. He states that he is a Democrat. Mr. Uyeda was confirmed in
2011 to serve the remainder of a term that ended on December 31. 2011. Hawaii
County Charter Section 13-4(c), states that "members of any board or commission
appointed for a term of two years or less shall be eligible to succeed themselves for an
additional full term." If Mr. Uyeda is confirmed today, he will complete the remainder of
his full term that will end on December 31, 2016.
