SUBJECT: Bill #339 Traffic Code Amendment - Parking for County Lifeguards at
Honolii Beach Park
This letter is in support of authorizing one additional parking stall along Kahoa Street at
Honolii Beach Park. The Water Safety Officers (WSO) must patrol the Beach Park seven
(7) days a week and remain on duty for an eight (8) hour shift. The need for one more
parking space is evident on days with good recreational surf and large crowds of people.
The WSO have one authorized parking stall now at Honolii, but regularly have two (2)
WSO's assigned to patrol the Beach. Please authorize one additional parking stall for
their exclusive use from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week. This will not
only allow them access to their duty station but will allow emergency vehicles to access
the only stairway to the Beach. Your time in this matter is greatly appreciated.
