STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •��r••• •P <br /> OF•M► ••..;. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 334 14 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KALANI HONUA, <br /> INC., FOR THE USE OF SPECIAL DUTY OFFICERS AT THE "HAWAI`I ISLAND <br /> LGBT PRIDE PARADE." <br /> WHEREAS, the purpose of the "Hawai`i Island LGBT Pride Parade" is to bring <br /> communities together in the spirit of awareness and respect for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and <br /> transgender (LGBT) community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the inaugural "Hawai`i Island LGBT Pride Parade" was held on July 6, <br /> 2013, and this year's parade is scheduled for July 12, 2014; and <br /> WHEREAS, special duty officers assist with traffic control at intersections along the <br /> parade route, which is essential to ensuring a safe environment for participants and spectators; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the parade is being coordinated by the nonprofit organization Kalani <br /> Honua, Inc., which is requesting a grant to cover the expenses for the use of special duty officers <br /> from the 2013 parade and for the upcoming 2014 parade; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency <br /> Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution <br /> identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the <br /> grant shall be used; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to <br /> the Police Department to provide a grant to Kalani Honua, Inc., for the use of special duty <br /> officers at the "Hawai`i Island LGBT Pride Parade"; now, therefore, <br />
