RESOLUTION NO. 334 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KALANI HONUA,
INC., FOR THE USE OF SPECIAL DUTY OFFICERS AT THE "HAWAI`I ISLAND
LGBT PRIDE PARADE."
WHEREAS, the purpose of the "Hawai`i Island LGBT Pride Parade" is to bring
communities together in the spirit of awareness and respect for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender (LGBT) community; and
WHEREAS, the inaugural "Hawai`i Island LGBT Pride Parade" was held on July 6,
2013, and this year's parade is scheduled for July 12, 2014; and
WHEREAS, special duty officers assist with traffic control at intersections along the
parade route, which is essential to ensuring a safe environment for participants and spectators;
and
WHEREAS, the parade is being coordinated by the nonprofit organization Kalani
Honua, Inc., which is requesting a grant to cover the expenses for the use of special duty officers
from the 2013 parade and for the upcoming 2014 parade; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the
grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Police Department to provide a grant to Kalani Honua, Inc., for the use of special duty
officers at the "Hawai`i Island LGBT Pride Parade"; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Chief of Police and the Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
