ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, DIVISION 3, SECTION 24-275,
SCHEDULE 23 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED),
RELATING TO BUS STOP LOCATIONS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. This amendment is being proposed based on a request by the Hawai`i
Police Department to relocate an existing bus stop away from the covered walkway of Honoka`a
Elementary School due to safety concerns. Relocation of the bus stop is warranted because the
awning of the covered walkway prevents buses from parking completely off the travel way on
Pakalana Street.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 3, Section 24-275, Schedule 23. Bus stop
locations, Paragraph (a) Hamakua be amended by revising existing item:
(1) Pakalana Street, west side, from a point • • -- • . . .• . -- . . .•
Street FOUR HUNDRED SIXTY FEET SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 240 AND
EXTENDING EIGHTY-FIVE FEET IN THE SOUTHERLY DIRECTION,
between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on school days only.
SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is
underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed and stricken material and
underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 4. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or the application thereof
to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application,
and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
