RESOLUTION NO. 335 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KEA'AU
COUGARS ATHLETIC BOOSTERS FOR KEA'AU HIGH SCHOOL'S PROJECT
GRAD NIGHT.
WHEREAS, Kea'au High School (KHS) has participated in Project Grad Night from
2008 to 2012, and this year 201 seniors will be graduating and have been invited to attend this
alcohol- and drug-free event; and
WHEREAS, KHS Project Grad Night will take place on campus on May 23, 2014, and
include a luau dinner for graduates and their families, activities, games, dancing, a morning-after
breakfast, memorabilia, and more; and
WHEREAS, the Kea'au Cougars Athletic Boosters is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), which
promotes and supports the health and wellness of all students in the Kea'au Complex
Community by providing material and financial resources; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the
grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control has provided grant funding in the past for
Project Grad Night in collaboration with the Kea'au Cougars Athletic Boosters to assist with
events and programs for students that promote alternatives to drug and alcohol use; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the
Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Kea'au Cougars Athletic Boosters to assist
with expenses associated with KHS Project Grad Night; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

010.251.5251.39 Department of Liquor Control $5,000

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and the Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
