RESOLUTION NO. 338 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA 0 PUNA
FOR PAHOA HIGH SCHOOL'S PROJECT GRAD NIGHT.
WHEREAS, Pahoa High School's (PHS) graduating class of 2014 is comprised of
approximately 80 seniors; and
WHEREAS, PHS Project Grad Night is a drug- and alcohol-free event designed to
engage youth and offer safe and healthy alternatives to graduation celebrations; and
WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is a nonprofit 501(c)(3)that actively promotes and
supports social awareness, community service, and youth education progams with community
outreach and engagement; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the
grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control has provided grant funding for Project
Grad Night in the past for schools throughout Hawai`i County to assist with events and programs
for students that promote alternatives to drug and alcohol use; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the
Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Malama 0 Puna to assist with expenses
associated with PHS Project Grad Night; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and the Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
