RESOLUTION NO. 339 14
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS,
HIGHWAYS DIVISION FOR BUS STOP SIGNAGE IN PUNA.
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works, Highways Division supports pedestrian
and vehicular safety by providing repairs, construction, maintenance and improvements of
County roadways, bridges and more; and
WHEREAS, the Mass Transit Agency has increased its service in the Puna area, and has
honored flag-stopping in Hawaiian Beaches which cause multiple stops, delays in bus service,
and increases incidents of vehicle repairs to buses servicing the area; and
WHEREAS, twenty-five designated bus stops with signage throughout Hawaiian
Beaches will mitigate delays in service, decrease repair costs, and cultivate a safer and consistent
public transit system in the Puna area; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Department of Public Works to purchase bus stop signage for installation in Hawaiian
Beaches in Puna; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Public Works and the Director of Finance and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
