Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Ms. Susan L. Osborne of Council District 5 to the County
of Hawaii Environmental Management Commission. Ms. Osborne is a 31-year resident
of Hawaii. She is the principal of Kua 0 Ka La Charter School.
Ms. Osborne is a current member of the Puna Community Development Plan Action
Committee. She previously served for one year on the Hawaii County Charter
Commission. Ms. Osborne is member of the Rotary Club of Pahoa, the United Nations
Board and a volunteer with Ho`oulu Lahui, an organization that she co-founded in 1994.
She states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will serve a
vacant term that expires on December 31, 2015. At that time she will be eligible to be
reappointed to a full term of five-years to end on December 31, 2020.
