A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
VETERANS MEMORIAL, INC., FOR THE HAWAII ISLAND VETERANS DAY
PARADE.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Veterans Memorial, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization consisting of veteran organizations representing a broad spectrum of the Hawai`i
County community; and
WHEREAS, to honor all veterans in Hawai`i County, Hawai`i Island Veterans
Memorial, Inc., is sponsoring a Hawai`i Island Veterans Day Parade in Hilo on November 8,
2014; and
WHEREAS, participants in the event will consist of veteran organizations and
individuals from Hawai`i County representing various branches of the United States Armed
Forces who bravely served our country; and
WHEREAS, a grant has been requested for the November 8, 2014, Hawai`i Island
Veterans Day Parade for special duty police, insurance, portable toilets, tents, public address
system, etc., which has been approved by the Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency
Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution
identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the
grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island Veterans Memorial,
Inc., to help defray the costs of the November 8, 2014, Hawai`i Island Veterans Day Parade;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
